Many people talk about leaving their corporate job to start their own business. This idea is very appealing, of course. Imagine it - no boss to tell you what to do. No working hours dictated by the employer. No office politics. No commute. No worries, right?
And, It is great, but when you’ve been brought up with a more conventional idea about what “success” looks like, it can be hard to let go of the security and status that a big corporate job brings.
There's a new generation of people who are turning their back on the “rules” of their upbringing and starting new, passion-led businesses. These amazing over 50 entrepreneurs account for 43% of start-up founders and their numbers are growing.
Today’s guest, Susan Gafsen, is one half of Pep & Lekker, a vegan soup and seeds business making waves in this growth industry. Susan was a high-flying lawyer until various family twists and turns forced her to think for the first time about what she really wanted. Susan’s story will be familiar to many of you. And if you’ve yet to take the leap and really embrace what you want, I hope you’ll be inspired by her story to at least explore what going it alone (or with a friend) might look like.
I really enjoyed hearing how Susan broke with the expectations of her upbringing and how her Brilliant Gamble is really starting to pay off. You can find out more about Susan and Pep & Lekker on their website and please do find them on social media - @PEPandLEKKER.
